That was good to hear that one, Jeff... if you haven't already done so it's worth checking out some of the other things that Clive Gregson has been involved in - including some great duo recordings with Christine Collister (amazing voice)and the two of them with Richard Thompson, Plainsong, and as a solo performer too. V talented chappie.

I agree Clive Gregson is very talented and I particularly like some his solo performances that I've seen on YouTube. I think the only Clive Gregson & Christine Collister album I have is Change in the Weather, a lovely album. I should do as you suggest and check out some more, but to be honest, my former musical interests have been rather diverted over the last few years as such a lot of the music I listen to and enjoy now is by current ASB forum members. I just feel guilty for not being able to comment on them all. Jeff

jangarrack Any Trouble were my favourite band. The recent album a month project was very uneven - maybe a couple of good albums worth of songs. Raggedy Ass is by far the best - Any Trouble like material.
My favourite album of AT’s was Wrong End of The Race - the album than crashed and burned and killed them off. I told Clive this a few years ago and he gave me a look of total disbelief. But I love it!

I appreciate this thread has moved on a bit from Dimming of the Day, but thought I would still post my thoughts anyway. Back in the 80s I became, and still remain today, a big Any Trouble fan and their version of this and my resulting fascination with the song was my introduction to Richard Thompson. The best version I’ve heard of this was by Eddi Reader, Boo Hewardine and Clive Gregson playing as a trio. It is on an EP made to promote a short trio tour which was rather fab.

I didn't know about that one, I'd love to hear it though if it's available anywhere. One of the tracks I quite like on Wrong End of the Race is the slow version of Playing Bogart. It's a complete contrast to the one on Where are all the Nice Girls. I know I've posted it before, but here's a Playing Bogart video that's a terrible recording but always makes me smile although I've no idea who the couple are.
