Hello guys! Like the new place! I'm making a new album, and I've decided against signing any record deals with a view to retaining total artistic control. So to help fund the production costs, I'm running a Pledge Music campaign. Basically, the idea is, by pre-ordering the album now, you can help to get it into production. By Pledging on the album, or for other goodies, you're investing in independent music. Here's the link to Pledge: www.pledgemusic.com/projects/jongomm I hope some of you are interested! Hi Jon, great to see you on here. I just funded a book the same way, total independance means total control. Good luck with it. I'll check out the link. Looking forward to hearing your new stuff.
Cheers Jonny

An oud player in Jersey City who I know through the 'other' forum did this for his group 'mild mannered rebel' which I 'helped' fund in this way - I'll check your site out later - best of luck. Whether or not it is my cup of tea is irrelevant ... actually it is ... I just like this way of doing things and am right behind the people that do.
Good luck
Leon

I saw myself as having three options: 1. Ignore the post and risk being seen as rude for not wishing Jon luck 2. Wish Jon luck and risk being thought of as a cheapskate hypocrite for not contributing 3. Wish Jon luck and explain why I wasn't contributing (and risk being perceived as rude because I don't like the music) I have every respect for those who try and fund things this way to retain control, and have contributed in the past to projects which excite me, so I chose option 3 but was unable to make a video of the choosing mechanism unlike @martin

Hi Leo
I can see your dilemma - I wasn't trying to be harsh either :-) - my brother, on the other hand, has an entirely different dilemma at the moment ... whether to go to Croatia or Greece - or maybe both for a few weeks.
Hmmmmm what am I doing wrong - too busy to do any of these things. Here's to all of our independent spirits ;-)
Cheers
Leon

Just reread my first response after a glass of wine and it comes across unintentionally arsey ... 'Whether or not it is my cup of tea is irrelevant ... actually it is' should have been written 'actually it is my cup of tea' because my point was to say that my taste wasn't the issue but the spirit of support.
Enough digging for a Friday
Have a good weekend
Leon

Why should you not wish someone well, even if you don't want ro pay them up front for something they may produce. As always you are a gent. Money not required, to prove this.
