I've been - and am - struggling to get to grips with playing over jazz style changes. A very good jazz player asked if I could play over a single chord and make it sound jazzy? It's a good point. He said if I couldn't do that then it stands to reason, I wouldn't be able to do it over changes. So here's me just playing over a C major chord. I was pleased with this, nevertheless, any advice, observations, or thoughts welcome, whether or not you're a jazzer!
Cheers Derek

Enjoyed that a lot Derek. I've been dabbling with slightly jazzy things recently but not the theory side. I just want to learn a few solo pieces but I digress, this is very cool and sounds good to me.

I couldn't attempt anything like that so maybe I'm not the best to assess, but it sounded proper to me anyway!

I liked that a lot, very Wes Montgomery.

Thanks guys. It even got the thumbs up from the chap who challenged me to play in a jazz style over a single chord. Now to add a second chord...

Vamptastic ..... Works very nicely Derek! Your tasteful and skilled use of rhythm and phrasing helps so much - if you get these right it helps the piece to work no end. Mark
