flic.kr/p/2mRfNsoStrictly speaking the Karine Polwart and Dave Milligan album was released several months ago on CD, but I was waiting for the vinyl version. It is one of those albums that immediately made the hairs on my neck stand on end, just simply wonderful in its raw beauty- just one of Scotland's finest singer and a pianist that I have to admit is new to me. In fact its Dave Milligan that makes this for me- his harmonies are just flabergasting- one or two choices simply took my breath away. The other CD in the picture is the second collection of Spell Songs, featuring some of the greatest folk musicians around today, including Karine again. I actually prefer this album to the first- I think the word setting and the arrangements are a lot more original. Almost a little Radiohead like in places. I love having keyboards and drums this time round. Both recordings are an absolute delight- well worth investigating p.s have been trying to get the image to work but I give up

Karine has recently become one of my favourite singers and I'm still saving up for the Spell songs recordings books. Great shout Robbie, I hope all is well.
