I wondered where it went. J ..it's not exactly much different - just seemed silly to leave it saying "next month" when it's tomorrow. Keith

Alasdair... are you thinking of coming out here for the next series or heading to the next England-based Ashes series? If the former and you will be making it to the East coast, let me know... but be sure not to visit me with your mates.... Barmy army, Barmy army, Barmy army Marcus, It's the series in four years - guitars to pay for at the moment - and, rest assured, I'm unlikely to have any mates in the 'barmy army'. Don't think I could stand the imaginative chanting. Alasdair. Marcus, Giving myself a pat on the back - I've remembered to set the record thingy to record the prog so we're good to go with a wee DVD for you. I'll pm you for your address when it's ready to go. All the best, Alasdair.

Hi Alasdair, I really appreciate your kindness in sorting this out. It had well-nigh slipped my mind as I have been entirely focused on celebrating the flogging your surrogate team took in the one day series. By the way, did anyone notice that we won the America's Cup as well? Nic may well be inspired to pen a little sea-shanty about that hard-fought victory...

Also heard there are some scurrilous rumours circulating around Auckland about the 'fin wings' on Oracle. Who'd have thought it... As to the one day victory, well, who'll remember that. Tests that count mate. And I have to reiterate, they're not really my surrogate team. I just like cricket - although it is nice to see the whinging boot on the other foot for a change... It'll be a close thing this winter (your summer, obviously) but I expect Engerland to snaffle the little urn again. Who knows about four years time though... At any rate, I'll hopefully be there. Perhaps we could have a beer. No worries about the DVD - it's a pleasure.

C'mon fellas... you wouldn't deny a lifebuoy to a drowning man or a straw to a bloke whose clutching for all he's worth would you? Would love to see you if you make it out here Alasdair... I'll even shout you that beer (and promise to get you a nice import rather than some Aussie swill) BTW, was the show any good?

I saw part of the rescreen at 2.00 am Sat morning in Halifax on my way to bed, having had too much whisky, and whiskey, to be able to judge the programme properly - looking forward to watching it in a more sensible frame of mind sometime this week on iPlayer
Keith.

It was a pleasure to meet you too. Sorry I had to creep out but I was already late and did not want to disrupt the very useful home recording workshop.
The thumb is swelling up nicely thanks and I manage to keep aggravating it in my increasingly clumsy efforts to protect it. But I shall pluck again and hope to redeem my feeble behaviour at HB5.

Recorded it and watched it last night. A superb programme which I will watch again. Not just a story of great guitar playing and singing; but if perseverance, family love and determination. Quite moving.
Will watch the Richard Thompson programme that followed tonight.
Hope you guys had a good weekend at Halifax. Hope to join you next year if I'm free this time.

I recorded the programme after reading this forum topic about its screenining, having no previous knowledge of Nic Jones. Loved it,the guitar playing and the beautiful songs. i am so pleased that i have now found Nic Jones. Once the gas man has been, i am going to watch it again. So thats the second fantastic talent i have discovered through the forum, the other being Ken Nichol. Nearly forgot; just bought `Penguin Eggs` as a download of itunes, £5.99 less than half the price of the CD, so i can`t complain. Just checked out a website folkmusic.net it has an article on Nics music and the tunings he used for his songs, very useful to a standard tuning monkey like myself. The Cd is great!

Nic is a national treasure! Penguin Eggs is a classic and I'd recommend his live CD's which you can get direct from his website.
Now I live down under would appreciate it if I can get a copy form any of you of the documentary? Happy to pay for your costs.
