Tickets bought in 2020, gig finally arrived in 2022, and it was worth waiting for.
tl;dr - he played 2 sets, 22 songs, all the great ones, and spent the interval signing autographs and chatting ("all we do is stand backstage looking at our watches and waiting to come on again"). Not bad for someone in his 70s! He said he'd got fed up with touring, but found how much he missed it when suddenly Covid meant he couldn't do it any more. He definitely seemed pleased to be there.
The Brighton Centre was a good venue for this. I hadn't been there before, but a large open box made it easy for everyone to see. And as expected, the average age of the audience was probably late 60s... so much grey hair and so many bald heads!
The sound was excellent, and his Olson sounded just as good as I expected. The rhythm section was wonderful - Steve Gadd on drums and Jimmy Johnson on bass. It's a long time since I've seen anyone playing an Alembic.
So we had Fire and Rain, Going to Carolina, Sweet Baby James... I knew all the words to all the songs in the first half. And so I went home happy ;-)

Must have been lovely! Always wanted to see JT live - never have done! Good to know he's still performing well.
