scorpiodog and I had arranged to meet in Stratford Upon Avon for the handover as the Mando headed from Dorset to Lancashire.
We had a cracking couple of hours (or should that be 'craic-ing?) having a good chunner about anything and everything (including religion, politics and music - but we studiously avoided any conversational gambits relating to sex or football - we're proper gentlemen, us two, y'know)
Lunch was kindly paid for by Paul at The Dirty Duck on the terrace overlooking the River Avon in baking hot sunshine (except for the last 5 minutes when a rain storm forced us inside into the bar - which was festooned with photographs of actors what had treaded the boards at the RSC just up the road - only 2 of whom we recognised. We might be gentlemen but we are, apparently, philistines, too)
We couldn't find a statue of the Bard himself in front of whom to complete the handover so settled on the statue of the Jester from As You Like It (Touchstone)
Exchanging a mandolin in front of Touchstone ... hmmm ... shame it wasn't on the Fylde coast
We *did* manage to get a photo (having accosted a passing tourist) but he obviously felt that the jester was the more important part of the deal - that's the problem with tourists; they just don't understand!
Anyways, thanks to Paul for the conversation, the food - and the mandolin. In a few weeks' time, I have to let Wild Violet prise it out of my grip. Until then....
