If anyone has any cash burning a hole in their pocket, check out this upcoming auction.

Wonder what happened to his black Fylde Oberon? Maybe it has also died, or maybe not being sold?

I seem to remember there being an OGWT online somewhere with Michael playing the black Fylde. Uncle Roger also referenced it here:https://www.fyldeguitars.com/news0921.html (that might be where I saw the OGWT clip first) - he says it was an Olivia (anyone who thinks otherwise is welcome to argue with him at their own risk)

Could be anything under all that black - amazed he persuaded Roger to do that! The Youtube clip has long been one of my bookmarked favourites - Rick Kemp on bass and Nigel Pegrum on drums. Mmmm nice. Keith PS Interestingly, in the Fylde Newsletter Andrew referred to, Roger describes the guitar as an Olivia with mahogany back and sides but spruce top. But as the rest of the guitar is very "custom" I suppose it could be said to be a custom Olivia (or indeed a custom Oberon!) Standard Olivia is mahogany b/s with cedar top (I have one).

Looks like there's a very low, if any, premium attached to Michael Chapman's name on the price estimates. It'll be interesting to see how the auction goes down.

Several times I've bid on these auctions and missed out by just a few quid. Some folks got some bargains yesterday. I think the secret is to be online, rather than place a prebid.

Same here; I've always been working somewhere so not able to bid live. I missed out on a really nice Ariel a couple of years ago.

There was a Martin D15S which I was tempted by. Wish I'd bid on it now (although when it arrived and I added it to the pile I'd probably regret it again).
Worth remembering there's a 26% add-on to the hammer price too.

(as a fellow sufferer I understand the compulsion - perhaps we should write a self-help book?)

That's why I didn't bid on it. Don't act in haste - repent at leisure.

Sale results now completed. Pages 6 to 8 of the catalogue. hereAuctioneers estimates pretty close for most of the guitars. Not so much some of the memorabilia.

I must confess to being the buyer of the 1927 martin 0-18K from the auction (along with a Burns Bison bass).
