Thanks Keith - great to know there’s another church player here! Maybe I’ll not bother with a scratchplate until I have played it a bit. Another guitarist and pianist is the current arrangement - so not quite a band. There is a PA system but the instruments currently are independently amplified. We’ll be looking into it all I think, used to play quite a few years ago in a building that has a professionally set up system with in ear monitors etc, was amazing, but I quite like a simpler set up.
Another church player here, although not currently. We moved recently to a much more "high church" establishment, and while the music is excellent, it is rather formal, and I reckon taking a guitar into the place would get me excommunicated! Haha - that made me chuckle 😀 I’ve certainly been to churches like that.

When I restrung mine the other day I noticed what looked like a metal shim under the saddle. I saw it in your photos too. Is this a normal part of guitar bridges or unique to Tanglewood? It’s the pick-up. Ah of course! My guitar is part of the Discovery series, electro acoustic (it no longer works)

The tuner in mine packed up a few years ago. I don't know if the pick up itself still works. I don't have an amp.

It's horses for courses... they're very classical, and while it's not really my thing I have to admit that it is very, very good. Who knows, I may get a chance to introduce a little informality at some point.
The old place was quite the opposite, and got extremely loud at some points - I think I measured 96dB at the back of the church one Sunday morning!

Ah you need to take a lute in there then. Lots of courses on those

96dB sounds like things were really rocking!

96dB sounds like things were really rocking! I've been trying to look after my hearing a bit (more) in the last few years, and try to avoid over-loud venues. It seemed a bit off when I had to use the decibel meter on my phone to verify quite how loud things were! I mean, I like feeling the beat, but not to that extent in a Sunday morning service...

I'd love to play my recorder in the middle of a church or cathedral. Oh that acoustic!

Bit of a thread revival here, I didn’t get a response from Tanglewood, so got the vernier calipers out.
For future reference for anyone who needs it:
I ended up fitting a bone saddle (Length x Width: 72mm x 3mm)
For the bridge pins, I ended up with a bit of experimenting and found that some bridge pins from Amazon, size: Approx. 32X7.8X5mm
All worked well and with a bit of truss rod adjustment I got it to a fairly playable place.
There was quite a bit of fret wear which got me thinking about some up-and-coming maintenance costs.
As many of you know and can relate to, one thing led to another, a few conversations and a cash offer later and the Tanglewood is gone and a virtually brand new Eastman PCH1-D has replaced it. I have a Fishman pickup ready to fit to it.
Updates to follow, probably in a new thread.
