Really sad to hear that Jeff Beck has died at the age of 78.

Terrible news. He was one of my favourites and COVID spoiled my chance of seeing him live.........

While recognising how innovative and influential he was, I never really got into him, or understood him. I have probably heard his work the most on Stevie Wonder songs (e.g. Lookin' For Another Pure Love). Am I missing something? Too jazzy for me?

Am I missing something? Too jazzy for me? Peter Well I think you are Peter but it's all about personal taste I suppose Jeff was a fine blues and rock player who touched on jazz but he wasn't what I'd call a jazz player such as say Part Methany is. He did loads of excellent stuff on song albums for many artists such as Stevie Wonder that you mentioned but for me he excelled in his instrumental albums such as 'Blow by Blow' and 'Wired' etc. In the last 20 years or so he developed a playing style using his fingers and whammy bar that I think is inimitable and therefore quite unique. A genius in my view. I dread to think how many radio stations will play the dreadful 'Hi Ho Silver Lining' as a tribute Phil

I literally gave my vinyl copy of Truth to my stepson last weekend saying it was a classic album he needed to listen to. I loved Blow by Blow and Wired but also bought and played to death the original DVD of this show:

Saddened to hear this news. He was amonth the great British 'lectric blues/rock guitarists of my g'g'g'generation.
I frequently saw him at Eel Pie Island with the Tridents. and later with the Yardbirds. I once saw them "backing" sonny Boy Williamson when Eric, Jimmy and Jeff all turned up to play lead. It was something of a competition.
Jeff went further than rock.

Yes a great guitarist and one who never stood still. His "Performing this week at Ronne Scott's" album is a masterful blend of jazz and rock.
