This is some of the most virtuosic and appealing modern classical guitar music I have heard in a long long while. Mesmerising performance too:

I fell down this rabbit hole, thank you forestdweller . I was in Seville last week, and ventured into the city centre's guitar emporium, recommended by jonnymosco . It was tiny, and much too scary for a nascent classical guitar player like me. I asked the two friendly caballeros there (one behind the small counter, one seated with a guitar) if there was anywhere in Seville to listen to classical guitar music. They looked a bit blank, so I added, helpfully, "You know, like Segovia." In halting English, they said that no, they didn't have that kind of music in Seville, although there was plenty of flamenco guitar, and gave me a card for Casa de la Guitarra. Now I have tried, and I just don't get flamenco - certainly not the dancing, and by corollary, the guitar music. The best thing for me in the Museo del Baile Flamenco was the art gallery. I know there are some aficionados of flamenco guitar here; I look forward to some education some time. So I didn't hear any classical guitar music in Spain last week, but I have been wallowing in the music of Zsófia Boros, who I found by surfing onwards from the above clip. Hers is some of the most virtuosic and appealing modern classical guitar music I have heard in a long long while, to coin a phrase. Jonny is helping me learn some classical pieces at the moment (Sor, Tárrega), and I am inspired by stuff like this. Peter

That is so good to hear Peter. The latest Zsofia Boros album is just brilliant- this one is on it. I have streamed it several times and will probably buy the CD. here is some Duplessy on her previous ECM album too. If you want to get in to Flamenco there is a brilliant album on the same label by Jose Luis Monton: ecmrecords.com/product/solo-guitarra-jose-luis-monton/Robbie

The two Boros albums I have been listening to are En Otra Parte and El último aliento. I have cued up the José Luis Montón album on Apple Music, and will have a listen. Thank you.
In recent years I have enjoyed getting away from John Williams and Julian Bream (bless them), and getting into some of the young players like Sean Shibe and Thibaut Garcia; although this is often still the more conventional repertoire. These modern pieces by Duplessy etc are fascinating.
