I fancy building something different for a change and thought I might try a gypsy jazz guitar. I found a site in the US of A selling some quite reasonably priced plans for a D hole until they added the postage...
Anyone have some used but serviceable plans I can buy?
Cheers
Francis

I played a great John Le Voi Selmer style guitar in the RF Charle guitar shop in Paris. Though I still played it fingerstyle like all my guitars. RF Charle also has great book on Selmer worth checking out.
Eastman make good gypsy style guitars but have only seen the oval not D style.

Thanks Colin, Came up with a 404 error first but the menu seemed to work to find the plans. Francis

Thanks Andy, Yes scale length and a resonator was dropped from the grande Bouche when the petit was introduced. Otherwise from what I’ve seen so far they were much the same. Francis

I’ve found with the above plans that it’s best to go by the given dimensions rather than say tracing off the drawing’s. The drawings are in parts ie body, neck, bridge etc, etc. I’m currently putting the parts together in Photoshop at full scale and I’m finding areas like the neck/body joint angles don’t seem to quite match up so definitely an area to detail when at that stage of a build with the parts to hand. Body dimensions given seem to match the drawings when drawn to full scale. My concern at present is with the guitar as drawn as it has a flat back. The reason I say that is because looking at older for sale instruments where the backs are shown, reflections indicate a curvature to the back. I’ve spoken with delb0y and his Maccaferri has a curvature to its back. So if anyone can shine a light on that for me… Francis

A Maccafferri was to be my next project but I feel I need to do more reading up on it before embarking on a completely new build (to me). So a parlour will be next, a 12 fret to the body, 632mm scale, materials... you'll have to wait and find out.
