isn't this in the wrong section? Good point Graham - I wondered about moving it, but thought I'd give it a while to see if anyone responded with some info for chad - then it might become a review! Not looking too promising yet though - might try giving it an airing in Electric Ladyland if nothing turns up soon. Keith

Don't know about the DI box, but I once owned the LR Baggs Acoustic reference amp, from which the venue seems to borrow its controls. I thought the EQ section was extremely subtle- read into this what you will. If you are expecting to use the EQ section to sculpt your sound radically, I think you would be disappointed. But if you want sensible EQ controls that still maintain your core sound, this would seem to be ideal.
You should also check out the Headway preamps. Very comprehensive and nicely built. Depends whether you need the built in tuner that the venue has.

thank's for that robbie, I spoke to someone yesterday he told me what I needed to know realy, that there's no point in me getting one as it's only small gigs I do, the only thing that would be usefull is the anti feed-back control which I can sort out a lot cheaper than what the cost of the venue is, thank's again

The orchid is a simple but great sounding device that is compact and built like a tank.
I am a happy Headway user and the more I use it he more appreciative I am. Wonderful output and very useful EQ control. And British and very acoustic sound friendly. I'd check these pout before looking at the Baggs.

I have the LR Baggs Venue. It is a solid unit with some very useful features: On board tuner, adjustable boost switch; notch filter; DI options and of course good EQ controls. I use it in two ways Firstly, I go straight into my amp and use the EQ on the Baggs to dial in the sound I want (I have the EQ on the amp flat) I find that this gives me more flexibility particulary with the mid range. In a live setting it goes straight into the desk and again it provides a great sound with good tuning of EQ and of course the notch filter helps here.
However, I do think that other options are probably just as good. For example, Ashdown do a great acoustic pedal which I have heard very good reviews of.

Don't know anything about the LR Baggs, but I've got a Fishman Platinum Pro Acoustic DI/EQ which is pretty good. They seem to have come down in price a bit too since Fishman brought out the Aura. Maybe worth you having a look at.
