Hey All.
I have a Sobell that I’ve decide to put a pickup in.
Stefan it would seem has already routed the saddle slot for a Highlander. As they’re are not made anymore, anyone using the Headway HE5?
The other thing is that the bridge plate is only the size of the actual bridge so whilst I was looking at a K&K, I’m worried it won’t fully fit on the bridge plate.
I know a few members own them and wondered if anyone else has had this issue or has advice on pickups given the above.

I used to have a guitar with a Headway undersaddle pickup - it had the same thick squidgy bit as the Highlander under the saddle and should have had the appropriate routing, but it didn't - just flat - still worked absolutely fine though - don't know what the current ones are like - give them a ring/email if I were you - they are usually very helpful. Similarly, I'm sure Stefan would know if your Sobell bridgeplate has room for K&K transducers. Often the bracing is a limiting factor as I found on my older Fylde - just squeezed in though! Good luck.

Edit, PS - you could make a card template on the ouside of the guitar with K&K type circles drawn on it. Trim to the minimum size allowed by the circles and see if the card will fit inside. Rough and ready but should give you an idea.

Haven’t used it though other than to check that it works. Not sure of the exact model though.

dshevy all I really did was plug it in and check a noise came out! First impression was that it was pretty good but to be honest I wasn’t listening properly. When I’ve cleaned it and restrung I’ll try to record some sounds

I spoke with Stefan but he hasn’t used a K&K as he doesn’t like the sound and so wasn’t sure if they would fit. I will probably make a dummy as your suggest and see. KR

dshevy Here’s a quick recording I made on.soundcloud.com/YnHNaFirst has microphone in one channel and pickup in the other. I then isolated the mic and pickup and made a mic only version and a pickup only version. I’ll tell you later which is which. Apologies for the quality of the playing. I was rushed and hadn’t got my usual chair or footrest so nothing felt right
