Long story, but the short of it is- the Waverlies on my Huss & Dalton are rubbish. After reaching out to H&D via email I was told that they have given up on using Waverlies since last year and that they now fit these: reverb.com/uk/item/69331961-new-gotoh-sxb510v-05m-electric-acoustic-guitar-1-15-vintage-tuners-3x3-nickelHowever, there is nowhere in the UK that sells them, and there seems to be a general shortage worldwide. The issue with Waverlies is that they don't stay straight upright- after tuning up, the bushings start to lift as the post begins to lean. Seems to be a recognised issue to waverlies as there is basically nothing stopping the post from doing this, unlike enclosed tuners or the Gotohs above. To be fair, on bringing this to the attention of Stew Mac, they did send me some nice high ratio ones as replacement, which I fitted myself, but they do exactly the same thing. So....I might be offloading two perfectly good condition sets of Waverlies very soon (if any builders here want them), so long as I can obtain the Gotohs for a reasonable price. But....am I going to be hit with extortionate import fees if I buy from the USA? Robbie

I had a faulty Waverley tuner. I contacted Stew Mac who make them and they sent me a replacement set for free. I like them I have them on 4 guitars.

I bought some tuners from the USA recently. They cost me just over £100. The tuners were $80 / £65, the rest was postage. I don't recall there being any import / customs fees.

Robbie
Over the summer I bought an Ellis left handed adjustable nut and bridge from Ellis Mandolins in Texas for my Pava Mandolin. I wanted something that I knew worked and finding them in England was impossible, so I went to the source.
After quite a few emails they sent me them (I still have to fit them) - cost me about £50 which was fine. The first shipping quote I was given was twice that, (the person in the office handling that side of things was in the dark, I'm not sure if they'd done much of that before). I queried it and did some searching myself and then received another shipping quote for about £10-20 if I remember - it wasn't expensive anyway. I think it was the USA's equivalent of Royal Mail and arrived in about 5 days. Hope it helps.
Big tracked parcels may be different but my pieces arrived in a padded jiffy bag and were fine.
