I found an old JJB Prestige 330 pickup that Adrian removed from a guitar a long time ago and kindly returned in the case, and am hoping to put it in my busking guitar. I've successfully removed all the superglue from the transducers. There is one piece that is slightly bent on about 1/4 of the edge, I've tried to bend it back but now there's a tiny bump so it doesn't lay completely flat, although it looks worse in the photo than it actually is. I'm assuming that the output from this transducer won't be quite as high as the others...? In an ideal world I would just buy a new pickup, but that's not currently in the budget. Which position would you recommend using the not-quite flat one? Would it be better to use my old Woody soundhole emergency pickup (which sounds pretty bad) until I can buy a new JJB? Looking at the photo I can see a few small scratches, too. I don't want to permanently install something that won't sound good or is really unbalanced, but I have no idea how important total accuracy is in these types of pickups. Thanks for any advice!

... hard to tell how unflat it is, but might it be possible to sand it flat without going through the metal?

Thanks Keith! I'm not sure that sanding it would make it flatter, but it might be worth a try! If I thought it wouldn't damage the transducer I might try to hammer it out, but more than likely I'd ruin it. I might have a go flattening it with some small pliers.

Don't sand it....or touch it with pliers or a hammer!! Are these the 15mm size? (a completely new Prestige 330 system can be bought on Reverb from Afterlife Acoustics Manchester for a very reasonable £50)
The quality of the signal path is entirely related to the connection from the circular pad attached to the under-saddle area & the connecting cable wire....assuming this connection from pad to wire has no breaks & is still whole, then it would be worth re-applying the superglue to each of the pads, & re-installing to your guitar...What's the worst that can happen?...no output or a broken signal??...shouldn't really matter to which side (treble or bass) they are applied assuming no twists/breaks to the cable as the signal path should be constant back to your amplifier.. Absolutely worth a try, if only to save £50 on a new install... (if it's of any consequence I paid in excess of £100 on Thomann for a K & K install) Fingers crossed & good luck

Thank you, motsetiaw ! Yes, the JJB is the 15mm size. I agree that they are very reasonably priced, but spending £50 on a new one isn't possible at the moment. All three transducers seem to work fine when plugged into my amp. I'm learning to do a setup on my new busking guitar and once I'm happy with it, I'll install the JJB and see what happens. I suspect it will be fine! Thanks again

I'm sure it will be if you ensure you have enough "glue" on the pad. This should result in an adequate bond to the underside of the saddle & enough to compensate for the slight surface ridge on the pad Good luck

Lynn, I'd just glue it in as is. Use a good quality Super Glue Gel, and it should be fine.
