This is worth a watch and quite inspirational.

Makes me think of 5 String Mandolins/Mandola tuned low to high CGDAE (or the high E tuned down to D which gives a 4th on the two high strings) or Sarah Jarosz's Tenor guitar playing. He's often talking from the perspective of hearing isn't he - pretty impressive that.

Quite interesting. I've seen Jacobs presence on YouTube and heard he is a musical genius and so on, but not really watched the videos. I decided to listen to his new album today. I wasn't expecting it to be my thing, but it was amazingly bland on the whole. There are a couple of okay songs, but mostly really boring, some plain terrible songs, and not much musically interesting happening. Many of the lyrics also stand out because they are so trite. Really disappointing stuff consider his musical talent.
Also, I assume there a few fellow Paul Simon fans here...the bridge over troubled water cover. Wow, it is dreadful.

Agree with hughesy about the blandness. Obviously a very talented instrumentalist but equally obviously NOT the new Prince. He plays a bit of funk (which is why I mention Prince) but it's all a bit twee. The choir thing he does at his live shows looks like fun and takes audience participation to a higher level than most. I can imagine the audience feels a huge high after that. But the music is a bit forgettable. I know what you mean about the Bridge Over Troubled Water. I didn't care for it at all. But the comments underneath were incredibly positive.
