Hi,
Just a bit of fun as it's raining again!
Who would you want as your supper companions (to chat with, not play) if you were restricted to people with musical connections.
Rules are simple.
--For this thread you can only choose 4 people.
--Either (or, to be politically correct, should I say 'any') sex.
--They can be alive or dead.
--Only one other forum member allowed on your table (but to avoid favoritism or controversy perhaps no forum members?)
--No need to wash anyone's feet (and if you were to include Leo that would have been a major obstacle)
And, if at the end of the meal you were all to sing/play one song together, what would it be.
FFJ (I'll reveal mine later after I've picked up some ideas).

Good idea for a thread FFJ.
Today, in no particular order, I'll pick -
Ralph McTell John Lennon Roger Bucknall Kate Rusby
No idea what we might sing later in the evening, but for sure it would be accompanied by various whiskies as I'm sure Rog would bring plenty.
If you ask me tomorrow it may well be different!

OK, I've had a think. Aimed at some controversial/enlightening discussion as well as musical memories ...
Paul Simon Neil Young Linda Ronstadt Tom Paxton
and we'd sing at the end of the day 'Imagine'

Spookily Linda Ronstadt and Tom Paxton were both names I considered!

Adrian Legg Ritchie Blackmore Isaac Guillory Eddie van Halen
At the end of the evening we'd do a 20-minute bluegrass/latin-inflected wig-out of Space Truckin'.

I could narrow it down to a list of a couple of dozen, but picking names out of a hat:
Ralph McTell Dave Evans Paul Simon James Taylor
At the end we'd do a selection of everyone's greatest hits, and then throw bread rolls at Evans for being a technical smartarse.

Ralph always tells his audience he is going to sing something from his album 'Greatest Hit' so we know what that would be.

I have a tendency to over think these things (Can Django speak English? Would Fahey be obtuse and difficult? Would Janis get too stoned?) but I've come up with these four out of about fifty, and I reckon it would be a good evening:
John Prine Jerry Reed Guy Clark Pete Huttlinger
And we'd end the night with a medley of Angel From Montgomery and Dublin Blues with the finest guitar playing those two great songs have ever been blessed with.

Roy Williamson Hank Marvin Pete Seeger Judith Durham
for afternoon tea at a very, very exclusive hotel. At the end we'd sing what they wanted. But, remember you should never meet your heroes...
