Came across this by chance while Alexa was playing Spotify at the Respectable Gentleman's. She claimed it was called Tricorn, by La Pajata. Eventually Mr Google revealed it was M. Cazzati's Ciaconna, arranged and played by L'Arpeggiata.

That was lovely, Alison - thanks for posting. Some interesting looking instruments there.
The Respectable Gentleman also seems to be very Modern, having Alexa around the place.
Hope all is good with you, the R.G., the slugs and the building work.
Keith

Love that. It reminded me of the Boccherini that was used in the film Master and Commander. Is there a specific name for the era that this comes from?

Late 17th century instrumental music in Bologna? It's beautiful. I will look for a recording. Thank you for sharing. The hammered dulcimer part reminded me: some years back, on a visit to North Carolina, my mother had picked up a brochure for me on this place, Song of the Wood. I had to visit. At that time, the shop had about 30 dulcimers displayed, on tables and inclined racks. When I asked if I could try one, the storekeeper just handed me a set of small hammers and basically let me loose. It was a wonderful experience, for about an hour. I have no idea how I walked out without buying one, except the thought of bringing it home on a plane. Peter

I didn't know it was a dulcimer, but it does make me feel like rushing out and buying one.

The late Jim Couza playing a couple of tunes on the hammered dulcimer. I first saw him at a Folk Fest in Southeast London in the early '80's. A larger than life character in many ways.
And a splendid clip by Arpegiatta, glorious stuff.
