Dull day so pictures aren’t great. If the sun ever comes out again I may take some better ones. Regular viewers may recall that I was asking about parlour guitars. Anyway some idle browsing on the internet found me a lovely pre-owned Furch Vintage 1 OOM at The Fellowship of Acoustics in The Netherlands. It truly is in mint condition with no sign of use. Spruce and Rosewood with Mahogany neck it’s probably a “large parlour”, but there doesn’t seem to be an agreed definition. A little smaller than my Lyn but about the same depth. Satin finish which is perhaps the only downside; I think gloss really brings out the beauty of the Rosewood. As soon as I tuned it up any lingering concerns about smaller guitars being “boxy” or lacking bass or volume were instantly dispelled. Lush, balanced tones. I’ll try to sort out a recording once I’ve rebuilt my studio; my son’s home from university and has selfishly reclaimed my studio his bedroom. Great service from TFoA, negotiated a price on Sunday by email, placed the order and it arrived yesterday (the following Wednesday if you’re from the future).

Fascinating discussion, and wow Onechordtrick you have ended up with two wonderful looking parlours. Interestingly I went down a bit of Rabbit hole yesterday clicking on a link on Facebook. I came across this interesting shop in Devon (Ashburton to be precise, not far from my hometown). On having a root around what they had (including some stunning Thompson and Ball guitars) I came across this beautiful looking thing: www.wmguitars.com/collections/larrivee/products/larrivee-t40r-handmade-tenor-guitarNow, of course the obvious thing is this is not a tenor guitar (which I was initially disappointed about) but I guess you would describe it as a Terz, something I've always wanted in my arsenal. Described a smaller even than a Parlour, but I love the fact that it has a standard wide neck and fairly standard depth. Reckon this would sound amazing in Dadgad but tuned F to F. Robbie

forestdweller I think that shop in Ashburton is owned by one of the musicians in Muse. I've been wrong before, I think I read that somewhere though. He originally bought part of Mansons in Exeter I think. Manson's have now closed/are closing down as the brother is retiring. (Hmmn, just looked at the site and I think I may be wrong - now I'm confused - again. Manson's is closing though.) Onechordtrick I was expecting an Eastman - "Fool me once" etc.
