I used postimages.org. Strange layout which cut off the first pic. So here it is in it's own post.

Great stuff, sweyne1 . I particularly like the way the strings become invisible over the soundhole in the close up pic... that Roger knows some tricks, eh?

I thought you might say that Jon. I'll be posting a NGS soon. That's a new guitar story so all will become clear

I think I contracted the GAS bug for a 12 fretter from Mr curmudgeon and his videos explaining his love of them. That was about 6 months ago. After looking around for a while I decided to put a Wanted ad in the soundboard classifieds. This was around about 7th Feb. All of a sudden there were a load of quality 12 fretters available in various body sizes. I'm not known for my patience and have surprised even myself that I held off for so long instead of jumping in and buying one of them. There were two lovely Brook Lyns available with Brian and Phil, both very tempting but Phils had a 44mm nut whereas Brians was 45. I was considering that because, as everyone says finding an Ariel is not easy. Then out of the blue I had a message from maninashed (Jon - see his message above) asking me if I was still interested in buying an Ariel. I said yeeeeeessss. He asked me if i'd be willing to collect it rather than posting. He lives in East Anglia so it was a fair old trek from Swansea but luckily my sister lives in Hertford so I was able to break the journey on the way back. I drove to Jon's place last week (5th June) and collected the lovely guitar shown above. Jon bought it new from Roger in 2016 and had finally decided that he'd concentrate on playing ukulele and classical (plus a very possible guitarele soon). I didn't argue. I said I can't see a mark on it. Jon said there is a slight blemish. I'm still looking. After my B&B stop in Hertford I brought the guitar to it's new home on 'Rishi Sunak Puts His Foot In It day' (6th June) and she couldn't be happier. She's like the little sister of my Alexander with the cedar top and lovely honey coloured sapele back and sides. So there you have it. A new set of strings is the first thing to be done and then just enjoy. It's a hard life. John

⁹Glad to hear she's settling in in her new home! I enjoyed playing the Ariel but my limitations as a musician became clear over time and I never felt I was getting enough out of it to do it justice. I'm sure you'll express yourself on it much more than I could.
Bashing away clawhammer style on my uke or following easy tab on a cheap classical gives me more pleasure than pushing myself on a top end guitar these days.
