Hey All,
I hope the collective thought of the forum might help. Other than Ralph Bown/ Atkin guitars/ Brook guitars and Oddy guitars, who makes a traditional 000 guitar. Particularly single builder operations.

What's wrong with any of the builders you mentioned? Ralph Bown, in partcular, makes stunning instruments in that category.
Cheers,
Ian

Cheers, Ian Nothing at all but I wondered if there were other builders who didn’t have an £8k price and 24month wait time. If I can shift the Taran I have for sale then Ralph might be an option but currently more than I can spend. There seem to be lots of great uk builders but few who build traditional shapes. KR David

I know the op mentioned Brook but they offer their Lamorna as a OM equivalent. My Lamorna is a 000 since I ordered a 630mm scale length. Phil

Jonny Kinkead ? His ideas were/are based more on American/Martin guitars so traditional you might say.

Richard Meyrick has models based on Martin OM and OOO designs - I haven't played any so can't speak from experience, but they look nice.

Hey All, I hope the collective thought of the forum might help. Other than Ralph Bown/ Atkin guitars/ Brook guitars and Oddy guitars, who makes a traditional 000 guitar. Particularly single builder operations. KR David Hi David, most carpenters, builder painters etc., charge around £50 an hour now. To make a guitar from scratch (ouch) AND select and purchase the woods, has got to be an expensive project. Some say about 20 days. that's 20 x 8 =
160 x £50 = so £8k plus the woods, frets tuners, and of course the case.
I have , love and cherish my Collings 0002h which I bought in 2005 -and should a used one appear on ebay or whatever I would expect the price to be around £3.5 - 4k. (New are around £6k).
12 fret designs are always a little less common than the 14 fretters, but are in my opinion more ergonomic. Atkin 00037s seem to appear now and again, and are half the price you mentioned. I don't have much personal experience of them because I have my "collection" and so not looking. Hope this helps.

Mr. Oddy (the son) quoted me about £2.5 a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, I didn't go for it at the time. I don't know if he still builds. According to their website (if updated), prices for a OM/000, starts at £1900, which seems very reasonable: www.oddyluthiers.co.uk/guitars.htmPS! I see now that you mentioned Oddy in your first post. Sorry about that. Then Kinkade would be a good alternative IMO. Good luck in your search!

I could be wrong though.
