I use one of these with a battery drill. Makes everything go much quicker.

My Tanglewood had the same strings on for almost 10 years before I finally treated him to a new set Profligate spend-thrift... Nah, just lazy

I have one of those Dunlop string winder thingies. Glow in the dark for some reason. Who changes their strings in the dark? Its good but it tends to bang against the wood of the headstock.

20 years....that sounds mad. I now have to change the strings on my latest Ovation as it's developed a buzz, probably need to adjust the shims under the bridge. That's a chore but hey, it'll work out fine.

Perhaps check the relief first - my guitars always need a truss rod tweak when the seasons change; unless your Ovation is a Matrix with an all aluminium neck/fingerboard/frets Jonny

I also enjoy changing strings, as most of my flat tops have slotted headstocks which are easier to change than my two slab heads. After years I have changed my strings every three months (I can't remember ever haveing "dead2 strings but I don't like seeing dull looking guitars.
However, I have now fitted Daddy-R-Orio XS strings on all my flat tops, and what with being 76 years old an'all, I don't expect to ever change strings again.
Apart from my 12 strings -as they don't do them in XS (I use 12-54)
