Spent a happy hour or two last night watching my 'Joe Brown - Live in Liverpool' DVD. Watching it just confirmed my view that Joe was probably the finest 'entertainer' of his generation. His connection with his audience is second to none but he never took himself seriously, just wanted to perform and entertain.

Just his demeanour puts me in a good place - unpretentious. I think he's just talented.

colins - I couldn't agree more! I have that DVD too and it's packed with superb musicianship and stagecraft. Joe was one of my first guitar heroes, and still is. I still enjoy hearing and playing his early stuff - Picture of You, That's what love will do etc. And, more recently his uke version of I'll see you in my dreams at the concert for George was my motivation for getting my first ukulele. My "paraphrase" of his version of that song is one of my favourite things to play. Keith

Like everyone says, he is just a good bloke and a great entertainer. Never saw him live or met him and I think Covid got in the way of his final tour. He made a brief appearance on Bangers & Cash, selling his Morgan, which was fun.

Class act & an underrated multi-instrumentalist; took my 85-y-o dad to see him at the Royal Concert Hall Glasgow wee while back & despite the vast main stage, he had it be-decked out like a front parlour room complete with old standard lamp & soft chairs- played the first half acoustically & then "electrified" in the 2nd half playing the old rockabilly standards from the 50's & 60's... The highlight was when he brought out the tiny uke for an encore & played "I'll see you in my dreams"....could've heard a pin drop & both my father & I welled up as my mother had passed 2 months prior & that song just brought her back to us both.
Joe Brown----a worthy "Bruvver"....
