The best resources are the numerous recordings/CDs/LPs that are available.Chuck away the tab books and work things out for yourselves.

So with a combination of a recording, standard notation and TAB I can usually work out my own arrangement of a tune. If I get stuck, I look to see how someone else did it, but I don’t think I’ve ever lifted on straight off the page.

I agree with the substance of the first sentence of your post, though would add attending live performances and watching friends play. And although I am in the work it out for myself camp this approach isn't necessarily the best way for everyone - we all learn in different ways. You could have expressed your sentiments more graciously. Keith

That worked but the second one is upside down. A better way, if you don’t mind me suggesting, is to click on the share icon, a sort of v on its side, in Postimage and then the “copy” icon on the “Hotlink for forums” line. If you paste that directly into your post - it will a jumble of characters in square brackets - your image will appear in your post like this

If you fancy a delve into some folky/traditional/medieval continental music have a look at www.vitrifolk.fr. Many of the 3/8 and 2/4 bourree's are old. Some have been turned into nursery rhymes, rather unkindly IMHO. A good number of the Brawles or Branles are old, as well as many of the Breton Gavottes. You can find broadly traditional from everywhere on this site. The slight downside is that you will need to read music to get an idea if the tune is any damn good, no TAB, some chords on some tunes and like many French/Breton sites they take a casual view on accuracy!
