What a great musicful Autumn we're having! Apart from our fab 8 days at Costa del Folk in Portugal early October it's been treat after treat.
A lovely small gathering in a local village for a great set of songs and laughter from Flossie Malavialle in late October. Sort of Edith Piaff with a geordie accent. 5 miles away.
Then last Friday to see Ric Sanders (Fairport) and Vo Fletcher in Southwell Library, 7 miles away. Unfortunately Ric had Covid but we were treated (and I do mean treated!) to a full session from Vo playing his blues stuff and americana. If you haven't seen Vo then make sure you do if he's down your way.
Tonight is Gary Stewart's 'Graceland' at another local village, 4 miles away. We saw him and his group in Portugal and can't wait to see him again, playing the whole of the Graceland album plus other PS favourites. Will be another great show.
Trying to fit in Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies in another village event in December, 6 miles away.
Then later in December it's St Agnes Fountain (with Chris Leslie from Fairport) doing their pre-Xmas set in another village about 2 miles from where we live.
These small local village gigs are brilliant as its very intimate, usually between 100 and 200 audience and you can see evryone playing close to. Always free parking right next to the hall and low price tickets, usually no more than £20. Some events you bring your own snacks and drinks and sit at tables.
Looking forward to Fairport's opening gig of their 2025 tour in Nottingham in January.
