My main instrument is: probably needing new strings

Great interview ... interesting to see (hear?) one luthier interviewing another.
I really liked the look, and sound, of the sympathetic strings guitar - fantastic undertones and reverb which really added to the overall sound making it quite unique - and uber-clever bridge/saddle arrangement, too.
So, a question ... Stephen, the videos show a wide range of musical styles (from strumming, to picking (and bowing!) but which style do you think suits your guitars most? Or, to put it another way, is there a particular genre of music you like to be played on your instruments?

Thanks for that interview and all the information ! Grmpf. Pictures like these don't make life easier for me What a stunning beauty! Are questions to facts and figures allowed ? If yes: what, as an estimate, do you charge for a guitar like this and how long is your waiting list ?

I missed any link to his website, but having googled it, the standard price is £2450. Personally, I love the look of the guitar.

Hi People leoroberts - Good question, I see the guitar as a tool and find it more interesting to see and hear the musicians that play them. I'm fond of most styles of music and so I don't mind where my guitars are used musically. One recent Sedgwick owner I'm looking forward to hearing is jazz guitarist Jan Vanek. It is nice to see that my instruments are not restricted to any one style. Bernd - Thanks for the kind words, my waiting list is about 12 months before starting the instrument.

Hi Steve, and a v warm welcome to the Forum! I enjoyed reading the interview (nice one Dave!), especially as I have played and liked the instruments you had with you at EAGS 2012.
Good to hear that the results of your work get used in many different contexts - what kind of music do you enjoy playing ?

Hi,
just a quick endorsement of Steve's work. I have one of his Sedgwick Harp Guitars and it is a really lovely instrument, very playable. One interesting point which you may not pick up from the pictures is that it is surprisingly small which makes them manageable but still with a great tone. I would highly recommend (providing you dont try to jump over me on his waiting list).

ocarolan - Thanks for the welcome, I hope to be at the next EAG Festival. I like to play things like Led Zeppelin's acoustic stuff, that is why I made the triple neck. Every time I pickup the sitar guitar I have to play The Rolling Stone's 'Paint it Black'.
Going back to leoroberts' question, I think I would like some of my instruments to be seen in the folk/rock scene.
Thanks for the kind words Greg?

Hi,
thanks. Forum looks interesting. I am far from being a harp guitar expert but am getting into it and have adapted some of my 6 string pieces to fit the guitar. Getting to the point where I am missing the extra bass strings on the normal guitars . Steve's guitar is really lovely. Currently have it in an open Gmin tuning (DGDGBbD) with the bass strings running up from a low G and it works well. That is a tuning I use quite a bit. The harp also works well in DADGAD. It seems fine in standard tuning although personally I think it suits the open tunings better.
I play predominantly fingerstyle on 6 and 12 string guitars. The harp doesnt seem to take that much adapting to.
As for other stuff I would be very much a Lowden player. They are superb guitars in my opinion. First time I played one (about 23 years ago) I knew it was the guitar for me and shortly afterwards managed to scrape enough together for an O25 which I still have and play regularly. I have a few other lowdens including a 12 string which is certainly the best 12 string I have ever come across. I also play a taylor 8 string baritone guitar which is an unusual concept if you havent seen one but it really works.
