Thanks Martin and Scorpiodog, decided to do a bit of sleuthing and after a few false starts, tracked it down and decided to pick it up rather than have it wait over another weekend and take its chances in the back of a truck. Soooo, I've unboxed it a couple of hours ago and it is now sitting in its case which I haven't opened.... I've heard that I should allow it to acclimatise to avoid finish cracking with all the travelling it has gone through, storage etc Not sure if it is absolutely necessary, given that it has been in UK since Monday, but better safe than sorry-I don't want to find out the hard way-so I'll open it tomorrow! Feel free anyone to chime in whether it is necessary or not in your opinion or should that be another thread.

Waiting for it to acclimatise before opening is very AGF-like , but since you bought it from the US, I think you are wise to take all precautions. I'm excited for you, and you've more patience than I would have

I'd think that, with it having been in the UK for a few days, it would've acclimatised already but, if you can cope with the stress, why take the risk? Of course, you could well just wait until Wednesday and make it a Christmas pressie ... but I'm guessing you aren't THAT patient, eh, redpick?

Well 24 hours passed quicker than I thought it would and I've spent the last couple of hours noodling. This guitar is fantastic value for money. The neck is great, Taylor-like and the action is set just right. Trevor Kronbauer has made a brilliant guitar with a very high degree of workmanship and attention to detail. I really love the sound of Koa (this is my first),bright as you would expect but not as bright as Maple which I also love. I am surprised by how strong the bass is,but it is well balanced. The trebles ring for ages and it has a clarity hard to define. I'll stop there with the adjectives as it is very difficult to put into words. This SJ comes with a soft cutaway and an arm bevel (another first for me) and binding made from tigerwood. I have to go now but can't recommend this luthier highly enough.

I may be playing a full gig on new years eve with George at the Torphichen inn there are a few details to be finalised yet but hopefully its a goer . It'll be the new Freshman with me and a nice new Fender tweed cable and another new strap which is just a plain dark brown Levi leather job (the green ones staying for the 12 string) .
