Marcus, did you go for the old look headstock? The new ones have the banner style headstock.
Great sounding guitars. I've played 5-6 Walnut Brooks, they have always been my favourite ones. I played a cedar/walnut small bodied one (Robbie tried it too) and it was one of the lightest steel string guitars I've ever played!

Congrats Marcus, it's arrived safely and the getting to know it begins It looks a beauty and the back and headstock are stunning. I'm really glad I saw it in the workshop. Re the sound Marcus, it really does sound the good through my laptop speakers so the H2 plugged into Movie Maker can't be all that bad. The Al Pettiway way tune is really good so keep them coming. Cheers Phil

Yes, been listening to these all day- really beautiful sounding guitar marcus, you must be so pleased. Like the shape of the scratch plate too. There is something so timeless about the older style logo- I still like the older one, I have to say. But for a guitar that is barely a few weeks old, it comes across as packing plenty of punch and with lots of nice sustain. Look forward to a few more videos,
Robbie

Thanks all for your kind comments... I am indeed "chuffed" to bits. I was able to request the burled walnut head veneer and the old style logo... perhaps I'm a bit Old Skool, but the transfer logo works best for me. The new logo is still the logo of choice in the shop but they have a few of the old ones lying around for those of us who are aesthetically challenged. I was able to choose the back and sides from about 8 sets that Simon sent me a picture of... although he had already put this set aside for me as he thought I'd choose it. Thanks again and I'm looking forward to playing it this weekend at a raucous family Mass... it will be interesting to hear how the K&K holds up. By the way, why are you all studiously avoiding commenting on my singing? I'm lined up in 2014 to audition for X-factor, the Voice and Australia's Got Talent... I'm expecting very, very big things....

'Australia's Got Talent'? Surely an oxymoron... After all, the Ashes start tonight... Best of luck ladies.

What's the definition of "oxymoron"? A Southie going by the stage-name "KP" who somehow gets picked as a British Lion.... meow.
Looking forward to the cricket starting up again... your boys seem to be in cracking form again and Mitchell Johnson is just itching to throw down a few wides.
Hmmm, I wonder if I forwarded "Thought I Was Asleep" to the Barmy Army whether they would consider making me an honourary member?

First time I've heard that choon - really nice playing - Facebook Tune of the Day

Mitch'll go fine - it's the batting I'd worry about. Barmy Army? - what about 'I wish they were asleep'? Still planning a trip for the next time they're on Down Under - see you there!

Well we've just finished our last family Mass for the school year and I thought the K&K pickup in the Torridge really performed well. I used a Red-Eye preamp that was recommended to me through another forum and it seemed to handle the heavy strumming and highish volume without any issues. I noticed a little bit of warbling/boominess from the low E when I first put the guitar through my AER Compact 60 amp and so rolled off the bass a bit on the AER EQ. That seemed to sort things out.
All up I'm very pleased with the result. As a guitar that I'll play 99% of the time acoustically at home, it certainly also delivers in a live setting.
Cheers, marcus
PS... how's that first test coming along in Brisbane??? Hopefully it won't rain all day tomorrow!
