This one always makes me smile. I was lucky enough to see Davy in concert in Manchester at roughly the same period of his life, though he wasn't sporting a shiner that day! I remember that he only played a couple of tunes - he was "not well" - but he was simply stunning all the same. Enjoy

Davy was one of the first guitar players I remember really wowing me.

I saw DG once back in the late 60's /early 70's in Inverness when he was opening for Steeleye Span [also up and coming at the time]....he was on stage with Holly Gwyn whose voice provided an excellent foil to his his guitar work...I particularly recall their lovely version of "Here,There and Everywhere" . When he was playing as an accompanist he tended not to go quite so much into off piste/ out of time [to my ears ] excursions so much ... one of the the most influential and original players of his era though.
