I will post a review shortly when I have got to know her a bit more, but to say I'm pleased is an understatement. The build has worked out beautifully, and she is already singing like a songbird. The nearest guitar I can sense she sounds like is the road trip Taran. Simon thought she sounded like some of the Sobell's he had heard, which can't be a bad thing! She is an instrument of real beauty, and very flexible too. Even with light gauge strings she responds to low Csus2 tuning wonderfully, producing a wonderful, darker hued sound to my yew Tavy. There is a consistent tone quality across all the strings and on every fret, which I seem to remember was a feature of the Taran. Fantastic description, I am eagerly awaiting hearing/seeing some soundclips of this particular guitar. Interesting you mention that this Tavy has a slightly darker tone. It was a shame I couldn't join you but the lords of ear infection once again haven't favoured my fortunes and I'm deaf in my right ear again, so even if there was some transport I couldn't have joined you. Being deaf in one in ear and trying out guitars is like going to a ice cream festival and being lactose intolerant. I may well take your kind offer to try your Brooks at sometime, I may commission a instrument close in features to yours!

Sounds absolutely fabulous, Rob, you must be over the moon. When I've got time I'll pop round and have a good look if that's OK.

I'm not very good at taking pictures, but seeing as there are very few of the back, here is a rather crude shot: The bubinga is unbelievably rich. Simon has added a couple of unexpected details such as this heel cap: And he has also repeated the copper dot theme from my previous Tavy: Robbie

What a lovely thing - like the rounded heel btw. I'll try to get round this evening.
Cheers

Wow! That bubinga back is amazing...the little touches like the heel cap and copper dots are very classy and make it very individual...nice! It was such a shame that my w/e plans stopped us meeting up while you were over this way doing the pick up..it would have excellent to both see and hear the guitar in the flesh!

Certainly looks very fine though - and well done for not getting the flash reflected in the back - lovely shot is that. Keith

Hi Rob
Another brilliant session last night - and falafels !!! That new Tavy of yours is an absolute corker, just so easy to play, responsive, balanced and loud. Not sure it reminded me exactly of a Taran (which I also loved), but I know what you mean, it has a similar balance ... reminded me of a Brook with a very strong and deep full tone to be honest :-) - an absolute dream to play.
I also loved the dynamism of the 12th fret cutaway long scale combi, a big and small guitar at the same time with a beautiful chiming open sound - it was the depth and tonal range I really liked from very light fingerpicking to really digging in, and right across all strings and frets - amazing silky smooth sustaining trebles. Definitely my kind of guitar - I think they are making some amazing instruments right now and we have been lucky enough to commission now.
Fantastic !!
Cheers

That back looks amazing Robbie - looks a lot like some sort of quilted mahogany. I like the heel cap detail too Regards Phil

Wow that's some stunning wood! Not your average Bubinga something very special and worth every penny of any extra you paid for it, brilliant! Chris.

It is a very beautiful guitar, classic but contemporary lines and just very dynamic.

I've just added some very rough and ready recordings in the plucky duck section. The mics (a stereo pair) were in my usual position of just below the sound hole towards the lower bout. Less than ideal conditions with two children still up, but they were very good and joined in!
