I don't think I've enjoyed listening to an album for the first time as much as "Hidden Seam" by Lisa Knapp, which arrived through the letter box at the beginning of this week.
If ever an album sounded like it was beamed down from another planet it is this one. Reminds me a little of Radiohead, and like that great band I think this music is totally unclassifiable. Apparently some are describing it "Avante Folk". If that means Folk with intelligence, depth, incredible beauty, then so be it. To me its just music.
If you ever thought a song consisting of a recitation of the shipping forecast couldn't possibly work, then try this:
If you managed to listen to the whole of that track, then try this one, sounding like some long lost snippet of Steve Reich's brand of minimalism. It has the most epic sweep to it, the way it builds and builds. Stunning, just absolutely stunning.

Enjoyed that Robbie. The phrasing and emphasis on certain works or lines reminds me of Bjork and Portishead. The feeling of space around the vocal is wonderful.

Wow, that is different - not heard much like this before but enjoyed listening to it I'll have to get Lynne to listen to it Rob - she likes Antony and the Johnsons which came to mind. Cheers Phil
