Hi Folks
Happy new year. I am looking to get an acoustic amp for home and possible small venue use. Got a loop station for xmas/birthday :-) so need something with a good acoustic sound. Looking at the likes of a Fishman artist ... an AER would be too costly unless someone is selling one for less than £400 which is just about my ceiling. Any thoughts would be most welcome.
Cheers

Hi Leon,
I have an AER Compact 60 which is wonderful. Consequently, I have a redundant Marshall AR50 acoustic amp which is on its way out this year. It's a smashing wee amp (but then I would say that…!).If you can find other reviews/recommendations of it that you like I'd be more than willing to sell it to you. They've been going for £125 - £150 on ebay, if that's any help.
All the best,
Alasdair.

Wow, thats a good deal on the Marshall, which are great amps. The Fishman loud boxes are good too. Leon, you might want to check the speaker size of any amps you are looking at, as for low tuned guitars like your bari, you may be better off with something like an 8" jobbie as the minimum.
Look forward to trying your piggie at some point- been researching it and it looks incredible well equipped.

Take a look at the Vox aga as they get amazing reviews and do actually sound superb . Plus they have a valve pre amp and a lovely warm tone as well as a normal tranny channel so best of both worlds . There's a 70 water and a 150 watt .

Yup - I love my Aga 150 - very good tone and good value too.

Ideal for home home, and possibly elsewhere if the venues are indeed small and quiet, the Yamaha THR5A could be good- having heard Brian Willoughby using his, they are really good and remarkably loud despite very small size and power. Easily DI'd to pA and used as monitor too.

Thanks for the guidance - nearly as difficult as choosing a guitar. I'll take your advice with me on my search.
Cheers
