Does anyone know a good online tab maker? I've found this: www.guitartabcreator.comBut it looks basic and not sure it's printable if you don't sign up and pay - also you can't change the tunings (you can, but it changes them back). I'm writing some simple tunes out for 5 year olds, the guitar tuned to open D, the melody on the top string. Thanks. Jonny

Might it be quicker just to print some blank TAB paper and write out a copy, then scan and print?

With my scrawl? Good idea though and Mrs M's script is like a type-face.

You might give Tuxguitar a go, Jonny. I haven't tried it since its early days, but it worked pretty well then and has apparently undergone a lot of improvements since. Tuxguitar

With the same calligraphic skills as yourself, and following a recommendation from davewhite, I bought TablEdit from here. It currently costs €50 but covers a range of instruments and runs on Macs as well as Satan's alternative. It is fairly intuitive to use and future upgrades are free. Brian

Songwrite (for Linux). Not that I use it, but may be worth a look.

I've done that for tabs and notation, and the results are usually not too bad.

I use Guitar Pro which I find pretty good as it allows you to enter notes either in tablature or in standard notation. If you complete in standard it writes tab for you as well and vice-versa. It copes with altered tunings as well as capo positioning. The current version is version 6 which costs 60 euros.
Cheers,
Ian
