An interesting video about my favourite band of the moment "The Gloaming" who's first CD has just been released and already sold out (available digitally from here) - it's fabulous. Amazing hypnotic Irish based music that is different with a feel of its own. They play at Celtic Connections tonight and "The Union Chapel" London on Friday. They are going to be huge: Here's a live recording of "The Sailor's Bonnet" when they played last year:

+1 Dave! Have been a big fan of Martin and Dennis and their approach to trad stuff since seeing them live some 10 years or so ago. It was without question the most exciting performance I've ever see/heard, esp in the way they slowly build tension through a set of tunes and finally explode - their "Live in Seattle" CD has a superb example of this in a 27 minute long tune set which is track 2 - I was gasping by the end of that when watching them play it live. That second vid you posted Dave is a shorter example of similar gentle hypnotic restraint developing into something more exhuberant - lovely! I'm a little less keen on some of their vocal stuff, though the quality is undeniable. Coincidentally, younger daughter Rosie sent me this link - www.npr.org/2014/01/12/261121018/first-listen-the-gloaming-the-gloaminglast week - you can listen to the whole album, or pick tracks. Top stuff! Keith PS You can still get hard copy CD from Amazon, plus digital download.

This is on my wish list, and will buy a copy next month (I've bought far too many just recently!) Great stuff,
Robbie
