A lot of us around here are pretty dedicated to our music and probably spend more time and money on our passion than may be considered healthy, but spending that weekend with Martin was something an eye opening. Yes you need extraordinary talent to get where he is but you also need persistence and a lot of hard graft! |

I would like to produce some Videos as well but that means even more time. My real problem is that faced with writing a blog, or recording a video, I'd far rather just play the guitar !!! |

Cannot Keep from Cryin' is a great example of the intensity of some of Martin's work. It is a very emotional piece into which a lot is channelled. This is one of the reasons I have enjoyed Vagrant Stanzas so much in that this live-type production really allows that intensity to shine through. Of course, we have a lot of other great guitarists to admire here in the UK, but few of them are committed to to teaching in the way Martin is. |

The reason they are so good is the amount of time they dedicate to it, hours and hours a day working on the tiniest little things to get that extra little bit out of themselves so they can beat the competition. You have to be extremely dedicated, and naturally talented! That was brilliant, thanks very much. I've considered starting a blog as I get into more solo acoustic stuff, really try with slide and start singing lessons, I think I might give it ago. Vagrant Stanzas is brilliant, first time I've bought direct from Martin too and I got one of the signed copies. I bought the tab for Cannot Keep From Cryin', it has taught me a huge amount about how he uses the slide and his techniques just copying his playing, well worth the £5 it costs. Beforehand I worked out In The Pines by ear but having that tab has helped me fill little bits in and get a much better version going. |

Maybe it's a simple as the power of inspiration and a sense of empowerment… Dunno. Whatever it is - can't really put a price on it. Guitar budget largely blown for now (Tarans…), however, 'a long time dead' and all that. So perhaps I'll check availability.
