I'm in the market for a new Electro Acoustic. I'm looking to spend up to about £700. I've looked at so many guitars online, but I know I'll have to play them. I'm after a smaller bodied semi-cutaway style guitar with decent electrics. I was reading about the new Faith range from Patrick Eggle. I've owned a couple of Eggle electric over the years, and they were very nice, but I see that the Faith range are assembled in Indonesia. I was wondering if anyone out there owns one that could give me their opinion. I'll have to go down to Portsmouth to the Music Room I think to try out some, but I'm wondering how they sound after being played in! Ade

In that price bracket you have a great deal of choice, Ade. Faith guitars have a good reputation, you might also take a look at the Vintage guitars ... they seem to have decent electrics in 'em. As ever, it's always best to try as many as you can before you buy (and then preferably buy one that you've played rather than just the same model). And ask the shop to let you play it through an amp, too, if you're planning on amplifying it regularly.

Tried some Faiths in Portsmouth Music Room out last week with a friend. Absolutely amazing value- best sounding guitars in that price range in my opinion. In fact was very taken with the all mahogany ones these particularly nice, especially the Mars.

Good luck.

I have owned four Faith guitars and currently have a Naked Venus in my collection. They are stunning for the money. I've had some top of the range ones with rosewood back and sides and they were lovely, but this current naked Venus is the best I've ever played. It's been well played in and has opened up like a guitar worth vast sums more than the silly amount I paid for it.

I really like the Faith brand too. Not owned one but I am really thinking about it, there is a shop near me that deals in them and I have been in several times in the past 4 weeks or so, id say he is sick of seeing me.. Im interested in the parlour mercury, the 000 size guitar is nice too I think its a venus. But I like the mercury especially with its short scale & small body. The naked is so loud... The shop I go to only stock naked and high gloss, I preferred the hi gloss for tone wasn't as loud as naked but the price of naked is ridiculous. Im interested myself in natural or trembesi but cant try them first. although the price of naked is very handsome indeed.

I picked one up at last went for the Mercury High gloss, without doubt the best guitar I have ever played or owned. I tried the hi gloss in the shop, but bought else where online saving a small fortune, I saved about 25% .... Stonking deal, very pleased.

I've owned a Faith FJ for about 3-4 years. Still a great guitar.
I would highly advise Faith for that price bracket.
