Good evening everyone, just thought I'd share an upcoming event that means a lot to me ,on Monday 10 march of to penrith to see Mr Bucknall, the main purpose is for him to have a look at my Alexander, I've had it 4 years now and feel it's time for a quick Tweek! And a check up,Very excited at the prospect because hope to discuss a custom Ariel with him already ordered, I did mention this on the forum and had great feedback, I've finally opted for figured rosewood back and sides, not sure about soundboard yet? Hope to broach the subject amongst others with the man himself,Excited!, be well all Alan.

Your new Fylde is just around the corner - perhaps going there will make the waiting easier. And if you get hungry on the way, you could pop into Forton Services and treat yourself to an upmarket M & S bacon butty.

Have a good time alan, and say Hi to Rog for me. I've just spent a fair proportion of this evening playing my friend Malcolm's custom Oberon - cedar/sycamore, which is a stonking guitar which Roger made for him quite some years ago. Glad to hear your Ariel is still in prospect - have a great day out! (And don't forget to report back!) Keith

Have a great day Alan. I get the impression that players get a real buzz and enjoyment from talking to such a knowledgeable enthusiast as Roger Bucknall. Mark

Dear all , once again thank you for your interest in my latest project.today via train Middlesbrough - Newcastle-Carlisle-penrith I spent a couple of hours with Roger Bucknall , the main purpose was for him to tweak and generally give my 4 year I l old Alexander the once over, which he did, he commented how well it sounded but tightened the neck and adjusted the bridge ,having got home and spent a quiet five with the love of my life!(tuning)What a difference, just Wonderful, during my visit we discussed my up and coming Ariel and after a tour of the workshop and Roger showing me many possibilities of possible materials (wonderful experience),we agreed Indian Rosewood back and sides and sinker redwood soundboard .the man blinded me with knowledge !!!, I know many of you have probs met many talented luthiers and what talented people they are!, but Roger impressed me so much today my friends, it will be a while yet but I'll try n stick some photos on here when someone shows me how!,thank you for listening and be well to you All

It would be great to meet up Alan - let me know if you are ever down Somerset way! And maybe you might be able to get along to the Halifax forum meet up in September - a whole weekend of meeting like-minded folks, loads of guitars and the odd drink or three....

Hi Alan....sounds like you had a fab day! I'm hoping to make an appointment soon to go see the Man himself too, I'm retiring this year, and going to treat myself to a custom Goodfellow!!! Glyn Good man! The whole process is very enjoyable. So many options to choose from and temptations abound on the website and in Roger's brilliant book "Wood, sweat and tears". It all adds up to a strong feeling of being a "kid in a sweatshop". The wait for completion heightens the anticipation but the last weeks can be a bit painful (serious understaement!). We shall be able to start a Fylde Owners Club soon! Brian
