I popped into a guitar shop the other day as i was told they were selling some nice freshman guitars, i had never really rated freshman as the only ones i had ever really seen were £100 bangers, i was very much mistaken, after a bit of chit chat the chap in the shop passed me a AA canadian spruce top, indian rosewood back and sides all solid cutaway, it was an apollo 20C, i sat in the seat looking it over, it was very nice indeed, then hell fire i didnt expect that, the sound that came out of it when i started to play it threw me, wow it had beautiful tone and the sustain just seemed endless, all this time i thought they were naff, how wrong was i, the rosewood was a little bright for my taste so i wouldn't be tempted to purchase it, i am now going to be looking around to see whats available with mahogany back and sides, i think i will be buying one of these if it sounds as good as i think it will, i think i would like a cutaway dread, any suggestions.

...fun! If you're after something less bright, then a cedar top might well be worth trying, irrespective of b/s wood. Let us know how you get on! Keith

I can only vouch for the Freshman Cedar creek series as i own one , the FA250Oc its a cracking instrument and super easy to play . Its solid Cedar on Solid Mahogany orchestral cutaway with the Fishman Presys preamp/pickup . Its getting better and better the more i play it as it seems to be really opening up . Ive posted a review in the review section on the forum , take a look .

Just for clarification, it's not all solid.
