I saw the Carrivick sisters last night, I think they've been discussed here before and a video of some 120mph flatpicking on a fylde was doing the rounds too. They sound like this Plus flatpicking guitar, mandolin, dobro ... Musically really good, excellent playing erring into virtuosity but never to the detriment of the song. Excellent harmonies, you can't really beat sibling harmonies can you? They have a definite american old time tinge to their brand of folk but with that a good get to the point arrangements. Nice to see some frailing banjo in the flesh since it's something I'm working on. I bought their most recent album, also excellent. My only complaint is they're a little awkward socially with introducing songs and especially if you chat to them off stage. If you're in striking distance of Swansea it's worth keeping an eye for the Garage Folk Clubs upcoming gigs, they've got some pretty big names like Martin Simpson and Nic Jones coming up www.facebook.com/garagefolkclub

Reviews section is fine Tom - 'tis a concert review after all. Sounds to have been a great evening too. Love listening to those girls! I keep looking out for a local gig but no luck so far, though I might manage to get over to bath to see them later this year. They seem to do a lot of gigs in Wales! Shame your chat-up lines didn't seem to work! Keith
