The Stanford I linked to has better spec and a 1 3/4" nut which is much more to my liking. I do appreciate the Sigma though having had the 00m-15s. I just think that if I do get a 43mm nut I'll want to move it on too soon.
Hold the back page! It looks like the 000m-15s does have a 1 3/4" nut rather than a 1 13/16th" as I thought. I could have a winner.

Is that the same one Violet linked?
The Sigma has a pick-up, I know it probably isn't great but in terms of moving the guitar on, at this price range I'm sure it helps.
The OOOM-15S is laminate back and sides, is that acceptable?

Well, I've owned to smaller oo version and it is a wonderful little thing for the money and the laminate is very well done - I think they do it properly with matched pieces. I'm going to see if I can get hold of the solid narrow nut version to try because if the tone is much better I'll live with the nut width.

Can't remember which I played, I tried several Sigmas for a member on AGF, but I was impressed with how all of them played, very impressed in fact.
Local dealer only has an OOM-15S in stock but if you want an opinion on that to test how reproducible they are let me know.

I thought so and to be honest my ear struggles to like mahogany, but to be more specific, if you have worries about consistency of the guitars Sigma produce I'm happy to go and play the ones locally, about 10 minutes walk from work, and report back what I think if it helps.

I think they're pretty consistent, tbh, but feel free. It's not decided yet - it can't be because I'm still looking on eBay.
That all hog Stanford still intrigues me and the wider nut is a big pull.

It gives me an excuse to go and pull a load of guitars of the wall... They also usually have comparable Martins... Consider it done!

Excellent, thank you!
I'm looking on eBay to see if I can find a used Martin in my price range.

Well, if anyone at all is still listening and is following this stream of consciousness, I've come to some decisions regarding this purchase. I've ruled out the Stanford from the clips I've heard, because it sounds too bright - like the all hog Faith I tried. I can't risk it not opening up and becoming warmer so it's out.
I've also realised that I absolutely do want a 44-45mm nut. It's just the perfect feel for me and I can't compromise on that. So, this rules out several of the guitars I was considering.

It would appear that I'm somewhat back to the drawing board. The Sigma ooo15m-s is still there, but I would prefer an all solid guitar. I'm struggling to shake the desire to try one of these. It's kind of calling to me, but a hassle ordering if it's not the guitar for me... and it's over my new lower budget.

Spruce top too, changes things quite a bit.

Yes, and I was pretty sure I didn't want spruce, but it really just keeps calling to me. I'm a bit lost now truth be told.
