The good news is that the balance of my current account is bigger than my remaining mortgage, and I get (some) say in the choice of woods. It's almost enough to make you drool isn't it - but not quite!
That's as good as it gets and it's all downhill from here...
We (i.e. the fun police and me) have decided to move house, so I get to choose a new mortgage... oh joy - which lender shall I use, what term shall I take, how much do I borrow. Red brick or rough cast... town or country... spent the past few weeks house hunting. Finally sold ours and had an offer accepted on one "we" like. And now "I" get to choose the wood. So ... oak furniture, walnut. or pine? For the living room, dining room and bedroom, and it must all match! It's almost as much fun as specing a new guitar :-)
And so after a small interruption, it's back to the Leavitt book for me, though I reckon I might yet be able to "fuzzy the numbers" to accommodate something nice for the new house :-)

... hope the process and the move go smoothly Michael, and that you can indeed use some creative accounting to your advantage! Keith

Time to go minimalist. Very little furniture and wall decoration as per leoroberts atavar: a model for us all. Good luck with the accounting. But in my experience, there are few more penetrating auditors than the female of the species. Brian

I was wondering where you'd got to with your Leavitt book. Thank goodness there's an explanation, and glad you're getting back to it. Hope all goes well with the move. You never know - if you choose furniture to match your guitars, it might contribute to the sound.

I do like your way of thinking :-)
