It depends what you want to...
The 'other' major alternate tunings include
Open G - DGDGBD Open C - CGCCGE Open D - DADF?AD
If you vary the the 'B' down one semitone you get G Minor, one more G Modal Open C, if you vary the 'E' down one semitone you get C Minor Open D, the F? down one you get D Minor.

CGDDAE - gives you a mandola/cello tuning (CGDA) and mandolin (GDAE) all on one neck.

A spider capo can bring some fresh ideas to the table as far as tunings and sounds go, and can give extra twists and flavours to the various underlying guitar tunings. A partial capo can do this too of course, but the spider can be more versatile - or you can have both a partial and spider at the same time.

I get inspired by music (and not necessarily guitar music) rather than tunings. There's no shortage of tunes out there to arrange for solo guitar, whatever the tuning. Now actually siting down to do it ....that's another matter altogether! Keith

CFCCGD - best tuning in the world. Everything John Martyn did post 1975ish and almost all of Dan Arborise's music. A great step on from DADGAD in my opinion.

My National stays in DADF#AD, my Dobro in GBDGBD, and my Weissy in CGCGCE. does that help?
