I thought this was a great video review (as are most of the Guitarist Mag vids) with decent recordings and probably as good an idea of what the guitars sound like as is possible over the internet - I loved everything about the F-30 - I'll take one please! By contrast, I thought the D-55 sounded rather nasal and a bit strangled. The 12er was OK, but was also a good advert for tuning 12ers waaaay down, though some of the single not lines in the mixed track were very effective. So, please disagree with everything I've said, if only to demonstrate how subjective all this stuff is! Keith

I think the microphone selection could be partly down to the differences in sound, I'd have preferred if they had close mic'd the rosewood guitars with a LDC at the body to add some bass/warmth as otherwise they can record a bit on the bright side of things - the SDC's captured too much and made them sound on the thin side of things which a dread and a 12 should not do.
The Guild F30 is a great guitar though, as weird as it might seem I kind of preferred playing it's MIC version the F130 as it has wider string spacing at the saddle (57mm to the 55mm of the F30) and has about 90% of the sound of it's USA instrument for 1/3 of the price.

Agreed, these are good quality reviews, and yes the F-30 sounds quite a bit better than the D-55 to my ears as well
