Hi folks, not strictly acoustic but it is a bit!! I've just picked up this 1965 Hofner 500/1 violin base, it's in a right state but it's all there  the neck is off as it needed re setting and I'm going to re instate the sunburst finish.  |

I'd have thought they were rare Dave but they're showing up alot on ebay at the moment.
Probably because of the 50th Beetles thing!
They are quite collectable though.
I've joined a very helpful Hofner forum so I could research as much as poss before pulling it apart!
I had no Idea it was as old as a 65 when I bought it or that it was collectable, I just thought it would be an interesting project. And I don't play bass (guess I'll have to learn now!!

I just started shooting lacquer at it yesterday. Even the tin of lac looks like it came from the 60's  clearcoat sealer yesterday  And amber (the beginning of the sunburst) today.  |

This is just a dry run before clear coating it and glueing the neck on. Just to see if I got the sunburst right  Keith. |
