When I was Fylde Guitars on Thursday, I was shown an instrument that Roger Bucknall is making for Donal Lunny, whom I saw live in his Planxty days. This reminded me of this song, the words of which I can still remember from my students days in the early 1970s. Pity I can't remember what I did yesterday....
By the way, pedants like me will note the literate use of "whom" in the first verse!

I'll give him an extra point for 'whom' as well, but I'd really like to hear a song using 'vouchsafe', which is my favourite word.

One more point from me, for the hurdy gurdy, I was not aware until now that playing this was one of Andy Irvine's talents. thanks for posting!
