Can I pull out an old floyd rose monstrosity fill in the hole and stick any old fixed bridge on? Or, are there fiddly details to take into account? Cheers.

This might help;
I know it's a trem, but you can block it out or stick 5 springs on the back. That's about the only bridge that''' retrofit the holes. You other option is filling in everything then adding something else, but this means getting the scale length right and the stability will be dependent on how you fill everything.
The schaller is probably the best option.

I want to put a simple bridge on so filling it is the way I think.

Just make sure the (filling in) is very secure as the pressure the new bridge will be under could easily pull it out . id go down the blocking the trem route .

I'm determined to put an original type bridge on this guitar. As long as I use plenty of prit stick it should be okay. (0:

Not going to fill the hole now. Going to put a Schaller 455 bridge on, which has just two post anchor points. The remaining hole behind the bridge I will cover with a custom made scratch plate. If you look at Brian May's signature guitar it has a half moon bit of plastic behind the bridge. Ta Da!

Ended up filling the hole with a two part resin wood filler. ( badly) Then decided I couldn't work out where to put the now gotoh bridge I bought. Then I realised something. I wouldn't try and fix a faulty boiler or car. That's what fix it blokes are for. So I took it to the man. He did it properly. Moral of this is. See a man if you want it doing right.
