This is,I believe, the latest incarnation of one of the finest ever modern bluegrass bands - Seldom Scene.
The only original member is the banjo player - Ben Eldridge -whose son Chris now plays with Chris Thile and the Punch Bros.
Other members of the original band were John Duffey (a great mandolin player and high tenor vocalist - d.1996), John Starling a fine lead singer and guitarist, and arguably the finest Dobro player ever - the late great Mike Auldridge.
Among the all time greatest bluegrass albums ever made was their "Live At The Cellar Door" which I highly recommend.

I once saw the a near relation of the Seldom Scene, the Country Gentlemen, in action. Their show was heavily laced with goofy humour too - in truth it was a bit mad - but when they played they left no doubt of their supreme musicianship. Bluegrass fans actually owe something of a debt to those Washington-based bands because they weren't afraid to experiment with sounds, grooves and song material, They helped to keep the music fresh when it could have become bogged-down in the established format and repertoire.
