Having recently moved to Uppermill, Saddleworth we have started going regularly to the Cross Keys Folk Club which is just up the road from us ( Folk Club). I used to frequent this club in the 90's so it was nice to start going back. First up were '3 Boxes' i.e. Clive Gregson, Mark Griffiths & Andy Roberts who, apart from distinguished solo careers, have performed as sidemen with Richard Thompson, Nanci Griffith, Pink Floyd, Roy Harper, Cliff Richard, Duane Eddy and many many more. Find out more here: 3 BoxesHere's a promotional video: It was a very enjoyable evening in a with some great playing and singing. They also did 2 or 3 songs from their days with Iain Matthews in Plainsong. A good night with very uplifting music which put a smile on everyone's faces. Regards Phil

Always loved Clive Gregson (esp with Christine Collister), and Plainsong were fab. Sounds like a great club to be near Phil! Time you did a floor spot....

I have seen Clive Gregson in various line-ups and always enjoy his performances especially his solo shows. Some years ago I thought I would like to try one or two of his songs but found them a little difficult for a "three chord folkie". So I emailed Clive to query if he had published a songbook. He replied that he had'nt and asked which songs I was interested in. I gave him a short list and he emailed me back with an attachment with the songs with all the relevant chords. A fine player, terrific singer-songwriter, and a good guy!

He is a long standing friend of Jim who runs the Cross Keys Folk Club and Clive actually has a house just round the corner from me here - he lives in Houston for a lot of the year though. Cheers Phil

If you look in the latest Acoustic mag there is a review/interview with '3 Boxes' that must have taken place whilst I was sat there in the Cross Keys pub Cheers Phil
