Great looking guitar - congratulations! Very nearly every time I hear a Taylor guitar in one of those Acoustic Letter comparison videos I prefer it to whatever other make is in the test. It's probably as well for my bank balance that my favourite guitar shop doesn't stock Taylors. Mark

Thanks guys. I think my GAS has been quenched now. Both my acoustics punch way above their weight and I have another expensive hobby to fund again...

I've been trying to get some sound clips together, but I'm constantly frustrated by Ableton Live9 and my Focusrite combo. I know bugger all about live recording and I can't seem to get anything that doesn't distort horribly.

It seems like you might have the preamp gain too high. Have you selected the soundcard's drivers in Ableton? It'll be in 'Preferences' and there should be a Focusrite ASIO driver, and if you select the input on the audio channel you are recording to (make sure it's a mono input) you should be able to monitor the input as it will record.

I'm using a condenser mic and the gain is definitely not too high. Maybe it's the soundcard driver though. Cheers.

Okay, I changed the driver and now I can't hear anything on playback. It's recorded, but I can't listen back to it.

If it's a condenser then it'd require it. If the recording isn't playing, there's a chance you've not selected Ableton's outputs on the Master output channel to match that of your soundcard.

The sound they produce is pretty unbelievable for such a guitar, it's something I've very nearly bought several times. Congrats. I keep looking at it and shaking my head in disbelief whilst playing. I was never a fan of Taylor's sound before, it always sounds too processed to me, if that makes sense. But when I picked up a GS Mini on a whim and tried it I could hardly put it down. If I hadn't been after a new bike, and if I wasn't still upgrading said bike, there'd be a Mini going pretty much everywhere with me.

What's not to like! Lovely singing notes in the upper register, warm mellow bass notes, and a very well balanced mid range. Definitely tickled the taste buds in my ears. Mark PS - 'nowt that dodgy to the playing to my ears.

That GS sounds the business. Glad you're pleased with it.
Have to slide down to Glasgow later this year - been nearly four years since I was last in my old town - and I hear there are guitar shops there... Perhaps a wee visit and try one of these chappies.
Alasdair.
